JOIN US IN CONGRATULATING MRS. BROWN ON HER NEW POSITION

Mrs. Kendra Brown has been named Interim Director of Early Childhood Development & Intervention of the APPLES Pre-K program.

While we will miss Mrs. Brown, the search process will begin to identify an outstanding interim assistant principal. We want to congratulation Mrs. Brown on her new position and thank her for all her hard work and dedication to the students of Davenport. SPRING CONCERT SERIES

On Tuesday, June 6th the Davenport Instrumental Music Program will perform. Featuring the 3rd grade recorder group and 4th and 5th grade band and string groups, it is a show not to be missed! Daytime performances will be held at 9:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. and the evening show will start at 6:30 p.m.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are in search of volunteers to help with the Outdoor Classroom on Saturday, June 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. If you are interested in helping, please see the attached flyer for more information or to volunteer online, visit the Outdoor Classroom signup page.

ORDER YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR THE 2017/18 SCHOOL YEAR

Order your school supplies for the UPCOMING 2017/18 school year. Please order for the grade your child will be in next year.  Boxes of supplies will be delivered to your child’s classroom on the first day of school. Paper forms have gone home or you can order online at  www.shopttkits.com. The Davenport school code is 83390. Paper forms are due by 6/19. Online orders are due by 6/23.

SPRING BOOK FAIR AND FAMILY CAMP-IN!
Kick off summer reading at Davenport Ridge! Join us for the Spring Book Fair from Wednesday, May 31 to Friday, June 2nd, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students can shop with their class for new summer reading books. Or shop online from May 24-June 5 at Scholastic.
Then join us on Thursday, June 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Davenport Gym for a Family Camp-In. Click on the Spring Book Fair Flyer for more info and to purchase an end of the year gift of books for your child’s teacher. JOIN US to WATER THE DAVENPORT GARDEN THIS SUMMER

The Davenport Community Garden will be in full bloom soon, with tomatoes, various lettuce plants and flowers overflowing.  To keep our garden growing, we need volunteers to help water the garden.  It is a great family activity that we have participated in and you can invite your friends to join too. Please consider volunteering your family to water the garden for 1 week this summer or for part of a week.  In return for your assistance, please help yourself to some of the ripe produce, or considering dropping off a larger harvest at the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County.  Helping maintain the garden is also a great way for older children to earn public service hours.  Please contact Liz Lebo at [email protected] and notify her of which of the following weeks your family can water:  6/26 , 7/3, 7/10, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14, 8/21, 8/28

This week is Spirit Week at Davenport. We will start off the week with Pajama Day and end the week with a SOAR Pep Rally on Friday. Don’t forget to stop by and purchase some Spirit Wear for the Pep Rally on Thursday, May 25th during drop off! Here is a list of this week’s events:

The Rippowam PTO invites all parents with incoming 6th graders to an information session on Tuesday, May 30th at 7:00 p.m. at the Rippowam Middle School Cyber Cafe. Meet the principal and 6th grade teachers who will answer all your questions about your child’s transition into middle school.

BACK TO SCHOOL SHOP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Back to School Shop is an all-volunteer run community program offered to economically disadvantaged elementary school children in Stamford.  Social workers in each elementary school choose those families they feel are most in need, and the children are invited to a one-day pop-up store before the start of the school year. The children choose brand new back to school items including coat, sneakers, pants, shirt, underclothes, backpack, school supplies and books at no charge.  Last year Back to School Shop served nearly 200 Stamford children. This year, we hope to accommodate as many as 250 children. To do that, we will need at least 150 volunteers. STAMFORD STEMfest CELEBRATION IS SATURDAY, MAY 20TH
The fourth annual Stamford STEMfest will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2017, (rain date is May 21), at Mill River Park in downtown Stamford from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event features hands-on interactive fun for all ages, plus face painting, food trucks and more!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT: MOANA UNDER THE STARS, FRIDAY, MAY 12TH AT 7:00 P.M.

This Friday, May 12th is Family Fun Night! We will be watching Disney’s Moana outside on the Davenport fields. All tickets are $5 and the first 100 kids to RSVP will receive a Hawaiian lei. There will be $1 activities, concessions and 50/50 jelly bean guess jar. All proceeds benefit the Outdoor Classroom and the Children’s Section of Stamford Hospital. Don’t forget your beach chairs and blankets! There is still time to buy tickets, fill out the attached form and return it to school ASAP. We are also looking for a couple of more volunteers. MOTHER’S DAY PLANT SALE

The Mother’s Day Plant Sale will take place on Thursday, May 11th and Friday, May 12th. Come browse our beautiful selection of potted flowers and plants for the moms in your life. The sale will take place all day between drop off and dismissal. Don’t miss this opportunity to support our school and purchase plants and flowers for Mother’s Day.
